Diving Deeper

There are love stories,
and there is obliteration into love.

you have been walking the ocean's edge,
holding up your robes to keep them dry.

you must dive deeper under,
a thousand times deeper.

-- Rumi

There are so many opportunities in our life to “dive deeper” as Rumi is sharing with us here.  The question is “Am I utilizing every opportunity to function from Love and confidence, or am I at the effect of the situation due to fear.”

As I am continuing farm sitting here at my friend’s, Elizabeth & John, an opportunity came up for me to check into this question for myself.

A few nights ago, my friend Charlotte and I were out by the barn to put away the hens and horses for the night.  After tucking in the hens and putting feed in the horse’s stables, we went out to call the two horses in from the pasture.  To our amazement, the horses somehow had gotten out of the enclosed pasture and were on this side of the fence - right by the barn door waiting for us to feed them.  We opened the gate to let them back in and the female horse, Sojourner, followed our lead into her stall quite easily.  But, Cool Guy, the male horse wouldn’t budge at all.  He has had some history of abuse with previous owners, so my friends were having a horse whisperer, Mary Kay, come in regularly to work with him.  Harvey, a close friend and neighbor, also comes in daily to keep up with the momentum of the process.  It was discovered that Cool Guy was very unpredictable and caution was needed to be around him.  Just to watch them both working with him was amazing to see.

Here is where the opportunity came in for me … I stood in front of Cool Guy with a biscuit and started to coax him inside the fence.  At the same time two things within me were being fully seen … the fear and a freezing feeling all over and a warm embrace of Love which was the Seeing itself.  A choice was to be made in that moment … giving over to fear or leaning into this warmth of Love.

Being the Seeing and leaning into this warmth of Love, I could feel IT begin to operate my actions and face the situation with a keen awareness.  The fear cleared out of the way, naturally.   And, the horse seemed to calm down too.  Just in time, Harvey was there to take over and knew exactly how to guide him calmly and gently.

It was a wonderful opportunity to see the inner resource we all have available in any situation and to experience how our Life is giving us the gift of Love and Grace in every moment -- all we have to do is turn to IT and respond from here.

Now I know how Mary Kay and Harvey are being such effective horse whisperers.  Maybe the message is for us to be life whisperers.

Living and Loving Our Life as it is,
Elizabeth

  1. Love this, Elizabeth. Seeing the fear and allowing it . . . and choosing Love. Cool Guy felt that shift with you. Horses are wonderful mirrors for humans - so sensitive to our feelings. Thank you for sharing yet another beautiful opening into the Love that's always there, here . . . In this moment making that choice. with love, lina

  2. Your message coincides with something that has been brewing this past week and finally broke through this morning as I was pushing my grocery cart through Krogers. As some old familiar feelings were rising to be seen, there also came an inner voice that whispered "just be with them and see where they take you . . ". So while gathering my groceries, I welcomed them all into Awareness, like little children sitting in a circle all around me, and the pieces naturally began falling into place like a jigsaw puzzle. And in the midst of the feelings and images and old ways of being there rose a smile and a loving embrace for all that has gone before . . . and all that continues to unfold in each moment ... Thank you Elizabeth.

"Being the Seeing and leaning into this warmth of Love" ...instead of leaning into the fear... Yes.. Love obliterates in the gentlest of ways. Remembering Elizabeth’s experience in every encounter.. is IT.!

  6. Helen Keller: “The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt within the heart.”

Sometimes one must whisper to be heard (especially by the heart). Ever notice how when you whisper when communicating to someone that they focus on what you are saying, sometimes lean closer and tilt one ear towards you? When you speak loudly, they move their head away and sometimes even step back away from you - and part or all of the communication/meaning is lost. What a wonderful sharing - and a great philosophy of living - life whisperer.

    1. Thank you for sharing how it is to live as a "Life Whisperer" ... I am in awe of how the Heart whispers through us and shares what is so real and true ... having the courage to follow through with what is true for us is the challenge sometimes, isn't it?

  7. This comment was emailed to me and after getting permission, I am sharing it with you now…

    Hello Elizabeth:

Thank you for sharing this with me. Animals are very "authentic" perhaps more so than people at times. Animals are not encumbered by language and words that come from outside them. Feelings are the language of the soul and Love is the most potent of all feelings. Animals and people respond to that. Boots and I had a special relationship. We actually made a connection and communicated. I felt a remarkableness about the ordinary nature of Life communicating with Life.

I remembered a parakeet I had as a child and how we communicated. He would sit on my shoulder and we'd watch television together. I'd play ball with him and he was the ball. I would throw him in the living room and put out my finger and he'd fly back to me and perch himself on my finger. Early on there were no children my age to play with and so I communicated with pets! And I felt that pets were people too (or better stated: on their way to becoming people too!).
There is so much to gleam from simple, ordinary, everyday occurrences. They are not ordinary at all but extraordinary as Life itself and We are That! :-)
Something extraordinary is happening on the planet and the ripple effect that reaches out to the Beyond and the best is yet to come!

Love, Peace, Happiness, Prosperity and the Highest Good for All,
Again, thank you for the sharing.

    Love,
    Steven
